My name is Barry Burns, and my wife Angel and I were married 21 years ago. We have 2 daughters, 7 and 14 years old.

I joined my first network marketing company about 18 years ago ... and I failed miserably for 6 long years. Sometimes I wonder what kept me going through all those years of utter frustration and wasted time and money. I was determined, that's for sure.

Some people are "natural" network marketers. They just seem to know how to talk to people to get them to buy product and join.

That wasn't me at all.

I was an "unnatural" network marketer!

I found it hard to build up the courage to talk to people, even my own friends and family. Then when I did get the nerve to talk to them, I didn't know what to say.

Eventually I met a man who turned my life around. His name was Joe. He was not your typical network marketer. He was a complete introvert. Up to that point in my experience, all the successful MLM distributors I had met were outgoing, extrovert, sales type people. But Joe broke the mold. I couldn't understand how such a shy man could be so successful.

Joe was the #1 guy in the entire company. And he never made a list of his 2,000 "closest friends." He never used the 3-foot rule. He never called anyone on the phone.

I couldn't figure out how Joe become the top salesperson in the entire company.

• He didn't have sales skills.
• He didn't have telemarketing skills.
• He couldn't do a recruiting presentation.
• He didn't bother even trying to answer objections.
• He never attempted to "close" anyone.

But Joe was a genius marketer.

And what I learned from Joe was that "marketing" was more important than "sales."
